This week our Hypnos mattress review is the Orthocare Supreme.

We have a king size Hypnos Orthocare Supreme mattress set up on a platform top divan base. This gives the most supportive, firmest feel to the mattress.

The Hypnos Orthocare Supreme mattress is part of a 3 mattress collection, all of which are single sided with no turning required. They are all similar in looks using the same unbleached cotton and linen chemical free cover. A feature of this is the natural specks of cotton seeds. This sleep surface is designed to help keep you cool and dry. This responsibly sourced mattress cover is naturally flame retardant and feels soft to the touch. Hypnos are members of the Better Cotton Initiative, investing in making cotton production more sustainable. The cotton in this mattress cover is sourced via the Better Cotton Initiative mass balance system.

As the firmest mattress in the collection, the Orthocare Supreme features a luxury layer of high performance bamboo, organic cotton, flax and wool to help keep sleepers cool at night. A further 2kg of British wool enhance the experience.

Sitting on the bed, the mattress feels very supportive. The border of the mattress which has 2 rows of side stitching holds its shape reasonably well. Lying down on my back I can immediately tell this is the firmest mattress in the Orthocare collection. However it is not hard. You can feel the support of the ReActive™ 7 turn pocket springs. However this is cushioned by a luxury layer of high performance bamboo, organic cotton, flax and wool and a 2.1kg fleece of pure British Wool (in a king size mattress). The wool is traceable to farms that are assured by Red Tractor. 

Moving around is easy and the mattress is comfortable when lying on my side. The wool upholstery provides cushioning for the main pressure points on my body – shoulders, hips and ankles. What surprises me even more is how comfortable I feel when lying on my stomach. I thought the Orthocare Supreme mattress might be too firm. But once again the supportive spring unit is more than generously cushioned by the wool.

Hypnos mattress review

This is the firmest Hypnos orthocare mattresses which is luxurious enough to suit back and side sleepers. It might be slightly too firm for bigger people that sleep on their front.
