Marks Weekly Review Hypnos New Orthocare 10 Divan & MattressThe Hypnos Orthocare 8 mattress has quietly become the best selling Hypnos mattress in the orthos collection, just out doing the Orthocare 10 mattress. So I’m looking forward to finding out just why that is.

This week my Hypnos mattress review is the Orthocare 8.

In our bed shop on display is a Hypnos king size mattress in a firm tension on a platform top easystore divan base. The easystore base has one large drawer on either side giving an enormous storage capacity. In fact there is double the storage space of four standard drawers. They are also supremely strong holding a whopping 60kgs each. This Hypnos divan base is slightly higher than the standard bases, measuring 46cm high, which is a small price to pay for the additional storage. The bed is completed with a stunning floor standing Hypnos headboard upholstered to match the base. However, standing at over 6 foot the additional height is not a problem for me. Now that base could already have sold this Hypnos bed to me, but I’d better carry out a Hypnos mattress review.

Hypnos Orthocare 8 Divan BedInitially I am taken with the crisp off white damask tick with a subtle self-coloured stripe. This Hypnos mattress is hand tufted with woollen pompoms which secure the fillings. 2 rows of hand side stitching ensure that the Hypnos king size mattress I am about to lye on offers support across the whole width of the mattress.

On laying down, my immediate thought is that this is the firmest Orthocare mattress. Although they are all available in a firm and extra firm tension, all 4 models have a slightly different feel. After 5 minutes, I know this is the firmest model as I have just tried the others. The layers of wool and silk provide comfort on top of the firm spring unit. I am definitely most comfortable when lying on my back. I’m also reasonably comfortable on my front, which is not a natural sleeping position for me. After several minutes on my side I feel I could do with a little more give, but then I am used to sleeping on a much softer bed. We also have the extra firm Hypnos Orthocare 8 mattress in our bed shop, so I hop onto that. If you like a good firm mattress this Hypnos mattress is definitely the one for you.

Too firm or not firm enough, it’s not a problem those clever people at Hypnos can put a dual tension spring unit into any Hypnos king size mattress or bigger.

Overall, I understand why this is one of the most popular Hypnos mattresses for sale in our bed shop as the demand for firmer mattresses is great. However, I’m going to stick with my Orthocare 10 which is slightly softer and has generous layers of cashmere and wool upholstery.
