The Hypnos Wool Origins 100 mattress is a mighty impressive show piece in our showroom. We have a super king size bed on display and this 75kg mattress really stands out.

The mattress cover / sleep surface is responsibly sourced, chemical-free, made from unbleached cotton and viscose, and safely meets all furniture and safety fire regulations without the need for synthetic flame-retardants. This double sided seasonal turn Hypnos Wool Origins 10 mattress comprises:

• ReActivePro™ 10 turn pocket springs
• Wool
• Talalay Latex
• Triple edge protection - the three outer rows of springs down the side of the mattress use a firmer gauge wire
• Flat perimeter wire for additional side support

When you sit on the mattress it is very supportive and the side holds its shape very well. You can feel the firmer triple edge protection springs bolstering the side. Triple edge protection is 3 rows of firmer spring down each side of the mattress. As the Wool Origins 10 mattress is generally paired with an open coil firm edge divan base, additional edge support is provided by the base.

Lying on my back I sink into the upholstery. It really does feel as if there is loads of it. And I mean loads. There are 7 fleeces or 16kgs of wool in the king size mattress. Wool can naturally regulate body temperature and moisture, helping to keep you cool in the summer and cosy in the winter, but it’s also naturally antibacterial, making it an ideal fibre for a mattress. It is incredibly comfortable, but given my size (6'5" & 17 stone) I think I might prefer the firm mattress if I was going to be sleeping on it for years to come.

As I roll onto my side I feel all my pressure points are perfectly cushioned. My shoulders, hips and feet are absorbed by the deep layers of wool and latex. When I roll towards the edge of the mattress I can feel the triple edge protection doing its job. The side of the mattress remains fully support with no sense of roll off. This makes for a great sleep environment allowing the whole width of the mattress to be used.

Moving onto my front the mattress remains extremely comfortable. Given the deep layers of upholstery it is easy to move around on.
