Hypnos LogoAward-winning and Royal Warrant holding bed manufacturers Hypnos, have teamed up with their local school to teach pupils the importance of care in the community as well as educating pupils on how important a good night’s sleep is to ensure their growth and well-being.

The pupils, who are from St. Edward’s C of E Primary School in Castle Donington and all aged between 9 and 10, were invited to the Hypnos Castle Donington factory. This factory is dedicated to creating products for the hospitality and hotel industries.

While on their visit, the pupils were given a task to help hand-craft three single mattresses, but they had to use materials that were natural and sustainable. Workers at the Hypnos factory helped the pupils by showing the children the traditional methods the company has been using for over a century now.

Once created, the single mattresses were given a unique label that showcased the collaboration between the school pupils and Hypnos. The mattresses were then donated to a leading homeless charity called Emmaus, based in Leicestershire. The charity will sell the mattresses on, with all proceeds being put towards helping to provide shelter and training facilities for homeless people who are based locally.

On the collaboration, Clare Taylor, marketing manager at Hypnos, said:

Hypnos Mattress Craftsman“As a family-run business, sustainability and playing an active role within our community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to not only help educate the younger generation about the importance of sustainability and sleep, but also help a local charity in the process. We hope the youngsters from St. Edwards C of E Primary School enjoyed learning how we make our mattresses and that Emmaus can help more people in need thanks to the donation.”

The chairman of Emmaus Leicestershire and Rutland, Steve Atkinson, also spoke about the collaboration:

“We are extremely grateful that Hypnos and St. Edward’s have decided to support us with this kind offer. The sales of these could generate a considerate amount of vital funding, which will have a significant impact on our charity and the people it supports. The money raised will go to residencies and training facilities for the homeless people with whom we work, enabling them to restore their self-esteem and find a way to overcome homelessness in the long term.”

All Hypnos’ beds are 100% recyclable at the end of their life and use some of the finest, natural materials including wool and cashmere, as well as FSC or PEFC certified timbers that have been sourced from managed forests.
