It can’t have escaped your notice that there’s been a bit of fuss about a movie that’s just come out. The eagerly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey hits our screens this month, with Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson bringing to life the books that sparked hundreds of thousands of women (and men) to take “bedtime reading” to a whole new level.

I’ve recently dug out a photograph of Queen Elizabeth II officially opening Brighton Marina on 31st May 1979. Why the interest in this you might ask? Well the curtains that covered the plaque that Her Majesty unveiled were made in the soft furnishing workrooms of Vokins.
