We’ve all read about the sales frenzy created by Black Friday Sales in the United States of America. But what is Black Friday? The terms originated in America and the days are either side of the weekend after Thanksgiving at the end of November. This year it’s 28th November to 1st December. This period represents the main start of their Xmas sales period.
Black Friday has become the busiest shopping day of the year in the USA. It is now generally accepted that the reason it’s called Black Friday is because it’s the time of the year that many companies went from being in the red to the black. When a retailer is trading at a loss they are deemed to be in the red. With the high increase in sales after Thanksgiving, many businesses started to make a profit and return to the black. However there are other theories.
Last year was the first time we saw these sales have a major impact in the UK. So it got us thinking, if it’s good enough for the likes of John Lewis, Debenhams and House of Fraser to be running promotions, then so should we.
Our commitment to our customers is to bring the best possible value and service to them. We will certainly be promoting some big limited offer savings across our range of beds, furniture, bedding and duvets. So don’t forget the date – 28 November 2014.
