Leaving the heating on all night is far too costly and doesn’t encourage quality sleep. Which is why you need to ensure your bedroom is prepared for those winter chills! A temperature regulating mattress uses the latest in mattress technology to ensure you keep to your optimal temperature at night. This is achieved through clever air circulation that traps air to keep you warm during the chillier months. Choose from Geltex, latex or the Hypnos seasons turn mattresses. Top it off

A cosy mattress topper can work wonders in the winter months. It will also add comfort to your bed too. Just like your duvet think feather down or add to your mattress by opting for a memory foam topper too. Pure wool and simulated fleece mattress toppers are a great way to keep to snugly.

Electric blankets are always a sure fire way to heat up your bed but always be careful to switch yours off as they can become a fire hazard if not used correctly.

Nothing beats a blanket and cushions

Adding blankets and cushions to your bed will really boost the comfort and cosiness of your bed. The more you add the more your bed will feel like a fortress against the cold. Opt for warming fabrics in browns, reds and oranges to trick your mind into thinking warming thoughts.

Extra blankets are particularly useful as you can throw them off if your room is feeling too hot on the milder nights.

If you’re looking to keep yourself snug this winter then having a cosy duvet to snuggle into is essential. In summer it’s suggested you need a duvet with a tog of around 4.5 to 6, but now winter is coming a duvet with a tog rating of between 10.5 and 13.5 is what you need. The type of duvet you choose is also important for warmth. Feather down duvets are brilliant for keeping cosy. If you particularly feel the cold but don’t want the weight, look for a pure down which is particularly cosy. The Die Zudecke Canadian White Snow Goose Down 13.5 tog duvet is our top of the range and best selling all down duvet.

Cover up that laminate

Laminate or wooden flooring looks amazing but during those cold months it can be really chilly on those toes. Nobody wants to nip to the toilet in the middle of the night when it feels you’re walking on ice. Adding a rug to your bedroom floor in winter will make a major difference to your temperature.

Block out the cold

Older properties come with lots of character but they also come with draughts. Not everyone has triple glazing meaning cold chills can easily creep into your bedroom. So how do your prevent it? Well rather than replace your entire windows opting for some heavy curtains can be a much cheaper alternative. Heavy curtains will trap cold air as it comes in and prevents it from reaching your cosy bed.

Hot water bottles

Remember when you were a kid and your parents would send you to bed with a hot water bottle on frosty nights? It was wonderful falling asleep cuddled into that cosy bottle. So why not get yourself one now you’re an adult? You can even get microwaveable bottles these days infused with lavender to help you relax and get a better night’s sleep.

We hope our top tips will ensure your bedroom is winter ready.
